Career Aspirations:
Further on in my progression, I wish to start up an indie development company, using my free time at university to develop my understanding of the inner workings when it comes to managing a business as well as improving my leadership skills to improve my chances in the industry.
University research task:
We looked at a few potential universities that would be the greatest help for us in our particular field.
The first university I looked at was Staffordshire University which is the furthest of the ones I looked at, which would cause issues if a student wanted to either stay at home or did not want to travel far. The second one I looked at was the University of Essex which was by far the closest of the bunch but would not be suitable for a person who wanted a change of scenery. Suffolk University has the best of both worlds, it is not too far if a student didn't want to travel too far but still offers a different environment for students looking for a change.

SWOT 1:
I believe that my strengths lie in my ability to quickly adapt to people
I think I also can pick up the uses of certain programs effectively.
My range of skills and knowledge can be attributed to my fascination with wanting to know how things work, this has allowed me to gain an understanding of how programs like unity and construct. I want to learn different things has also allowed me to have a general knowledge in multiple fields that I try to expand as often as I can.
I believe that one of my biggest weaknesses is my ability when it comes to taking my various ideas and expressing or explaining them to people with whom I may be working.
The main gaps in my knowledge lie with styles of art and the finer points of character creation, this could be due to me wanting to excel at other subjects causing these to fall behind.
I have been offered the opportunity to be hired as a bartender for multiple events, this would provide a good opportunity for me because it would allow me to develop my skills when it comes to being professional in an unpredictable environment.
One threat is that I can become engrossed in certain aspects of my personal projects, whilst this would allow for a high level of detail, it would slow me down causing issues later on. I also find that my lacking experience with art may cause issues when I come to completely understanding a co-worker’s artistic vision for a certain item or the project as a whole.
Logo Design:
We created a logo using the initials of our names. The logo I created using my first, middle, and last names. I wanted to create a logo that represented the industry I wanted to work in, so I had the first two letters, 'M' and 'M', form a coil of wire that lead into a Commodore 64 style computer which displayed my last two initials, 'S' and 'P', on the screen in a text style that was commonly used for that PC.
Marketing A Game:
In this lesson, we were tasked with providing a presentation as if we were explaining a marketing campaign for a specific game. The game my group was given was Sims 4 (Maxis,2014), a game developed by Maxis Studios.
The first thing that we did was create a Google Pinboard so that we could gather the ideas we had for the presentation at hand, this included paid promotions, a partnership with Starbucks and Twitch, the creation of merchandise, DLC earned from specific purchases, and more. Once we hand our ideas down we began to form a Google Slide so that we could easily divide up each marketing strategy with other ones that were of the same nature.
The first slide was a presentation of the main title of the game using light green colours and smooth lines to display a feeling of prosperity and trust. This was also used to help design a new look for a franchise that has been out for over twenty years.
The second slide talked about how we could use social media to help produce a better image for our game, this could be done through rewarding followers for spreading words about the game, this could be done through holding 'competitions' between followers to gain the most publicity in exchange for DLC or in-game items/commodities.
The third slide contained the information on how we wanted to market the game through partnering with the streaming service Twitch, this would be done through having viewers on Twitch watch a certain streamer for an extended period of time whilst having Twitch Prime active, if the viewer watches for long enough they will receive a certain amount of currency that could be spent inside of an in-game store to purchase characters based around their favorite streamers, being able to have them place in their neighborhood allowing interaction with them.
The final slide contains a new idea to produce items and clothing based around newer fads, these small DLC packs would be easy to produce and quick to download allowing the contents to be up to date with the current fashion without having players wait for the price to drop before purchasing them.
