Marketing

Skills Required:

Strategy & consultation: This role is typically based around devising how you’re going to market your product as well as advising other members. The skills needed for this role are being able to communicate, having good time management.

Press & Influencers: influencers can work quite well in conjunction with marketing since they are usually trusted by a lot of different people, if they review a product and, if received positively, it could generate a large amount of hype for it before the product is even released.

Social & community: one of the cheaper ways to generate great marketing for a product is to advertise it through social media sites or you could generate talk about it on various forums. While this might not be the most effective way of marketing, it can be incredibly cheap to implement.

Digital Advertising: this form of marketing is done by creating advertisements to appear in videos or by creating banners to appear on various websites. Whilst not the most effective, since you will need to produce the adverts and then pay to have them displayed. The banners can be easy to develop and put up, creating great early-stage marketing.

Creative Production: a form of marketing that can be very cheap or quite expensive depending on how you choose to advertise your product, whether it be through posters, banners, or even guerrilla marketing.

Partner marketing: Partner marketing is done through working with another company to help expand each other's presence in their certain field, this can be incredibly effective especially if the company you are working with has more influence than yours does.

Past Advertising:

Fallout 76 (Bethesda Studios, 2018) had some of the largest marketing at the time, having multiple marketing techniques to help bolster the game’s hype.  one of the first things that started the marketing was the reveal of the game at E3 in 2018, this was followed by a themed rum called ‘Nuka Dark’ which was advertised through the manufacturer's YouTube channel (Silver Screen Bottling Video, 2018). Bethesda also produced a lot of clothing in the style of the vault 76 jumpsuits from the game, they also sold a lot of miscellaneous products like cups, lunch boxes, and pins. One of the most recognisable things they created was a rendition of John Denver’s Take Me Home, Country Road (1971) which was performed by The Spanks in 2018 which sparked a lot of excitement due to the vocals going extremely well with the trailer (Bethesda Softworks, 2018) that was produced alongside it.
